Jarvis Landry Jersey , but hasn’t stopped for the ever-rebuilding Browns. They’re in the midst of yet another coaching search, and the NFL playoffs are likely to come and go without them again this season — the 16th straight postseason since their most recent appearance. But as Cleveland hit its bye week, and with six games left in another season going nowhere, optimism abounds around a franchise that has had little to celebrate over the past 25 years. The dark days of despair are dwindling.Baker Mayfield is making them go away. The fearless rookie quarterback with the contagious personality, touchdown-making skills and trash-talking bravado, has the Browns — and their long-suffering fans — believing.“It’s not everything, but it’s everything,” guard Joel Bitonio said with a smile when asked about Mayfield’s magnetism and positive influence. “You’ve got to have a quarterback to win in the NFL and it hasn’t been perfect, but to have him out there with you, there’s always that hope that, ‘Hey, we have a chance to win this game.'”The No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, Mayfield is changing the Browns (3-6-1) with his actions on and off the field. He’s already endured years of chaos in just 10 games as Cleveland has changed coaches, traded its top playmaker (Josh Gordon) and leading rusher (Carlos Hyde) Genard Avery Color Rush Jersey , suffered numerous injuries and a few of those punch-in-the stomach losses that the Browns have seemingly mastered. But every time the Browns have taken a hard hit, Mayfield has responded with one of his own.“We’ve got a quarterback who knows how to fight,” said defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah. “You want to play for a guy like that who inspires you. He comes to the defensive side of the ball like, ‘Hey, we’re still in this. Just give me one more chance out there.’ Guys on defense love that. They love a quarterback who can go out there and make a promise and say, ‘Hey, I’ve got your back.'”Mayfield, who has gotten better every week, hasn’t won the respect of his teammates. He’s earned it.The Browns didn’t hand the starting job to Mayfield, who began the season in a backup role before starter Tyrod Taylor suffered a concussion in Week 3 against the New York Jets on national TV. Mayfield came in and led the Browns to their first win since 2016, snapping a 19-game winless streak and providing a preview of bigger things to come.It hasn’t been perfect so far. Mayfield has made his share of rookie mistakes, forcing passes, holding onto the ball too long, missing open receivers. But in the past four games https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Austin-Corbett-Jersey , Mayfield has completed 69 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and just two interceptions.Despite winning the Heisman Trophy and going 33-6 as a starter at Oklahoma, Mayfield wasn’t considered the top prospect in this year’s ballyhooed rookie QB class, which includes Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Josh Allen. Mayfield was too short, too cocky, too much a product of Sooners coach Lincoln Riley’s system.Well, Mayfield has outperformed the other rookies across the board.“He’s developing as a quarterback,” said Browns general manager John Dorsey, the man who went out on a limb and picked Mayfield. “He is still a rookie quarterback. He has demonstrated certain things during the course of a game that get you excited. I think that if you would ask him as a person, he still has a lot more football to master the position that he plays. I think he will continue to do that.”Last week, after being encouraged by interim coach Gregg Williams and his teammates to “cut it loose and play,” Mayfield delivered the signature performance and victory of his fledgling pro career. He completed his first 13 passes, finished 17 of 20 with three touchdown passes and outplayed Atlanta quarterback and 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan as the Browns ended a four-game losing streak with a 28-16 win.Following the game, Mayfield smiled and said he woke up “feeling dangerous” before de-feathering the Falcons Nick Chubb Jersey , who had their playoff hopes severely shaken. The comment might have come off as cocky to some, but it was Mayfield at his playful and bragging best, displaying the swagger that made him a college superstar and has endeared him to his Cleveland teammates.Make no mistake, at 23 and only 10 games into his NFL life, Mayfield is the Browns’ undisputed leader, the tone-setter.“He’s taken the role head-first, never looking back,” said rookie running back Nick Chubb, who rushed for 176 yards in the win. “He brings that energy and burst that we need. This team will follow him anywhere. He is just a great leader, and you know no matter what is going on around us or outside noise just the bad stuff that has not gone well for us, he is going to give us all 100 percent and he is not going to let it affect him.“We like that in our quarterback and our leader, and he is fiercely competitive. He gives 100 percent every play. Just being on the team with him, everyone just likes it and loves him and loves who he is.”The praise from Chubb and others fuel him.“To me, there is nothing better than that Chad Thomas Color Rush Jersey ,” Mayfield said. “As a quarterback, and as somebody that wants to be a leader of this team, it does not get better than that.”In Cleveland, things are getting a lot better. The Cleveland Browns special teams were anything but during the 2018 NFL season. Starting in Week 1 - when the Browns had a game-winning field goal blocked in overtime - and continuing through the season’s final game, it was a weekly lowlight show of penalties, missed assignments and general nonsense. So it should come as no surprise that Pro Football Focus ranked the Browns special teams unit as the league’s worst in 2018.The ranking also has Browns fans continuing to ponder just why special teams coordinator Amos Jones still has a job (and why he was hired in the first place).Jones came to Cleveland after spending the previous five years as the special teams coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, who decided not to renew his contract after the 2017 season. During his time in Arizona, the special teams units were near the bottom of the league’s rankings on an annual basis. How bad was it? ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss detailed a few “highlights” near the end of last season:Maybe former head coach Hue Jackson - who is statistically and unquestionably the worst head coach in the 99-year history of the NFL - believed that having Jones on staff would distract everyone from how bad Jackson is at his job. With the Browns signaling their intent to be a playoff contender in 2019, it seems extremely unlikely that they can live with Jones on the coaching staff much longer. On the bright side, who ever takes over has no where to go but up.

GREEN BAY https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Demetri-Goodson-Jersey , Wis. 鈥?Packers coach Mike McCarthy appreciates how veteran receiver Randall Cobb excels at doing the little things in practice, such as perfecting his footwork and timing. If Cobb can just get over his hamstring injury, he might be able to help on the field, too, with the Packers desperately trying to keep their longshot playoff hopes alive.Packers CoverageProtecting QB Aaron Rodgers will be Packers’ priority vs. BearsPackers place starting guard Bell on IR, sign OL SiragusaStaTuesday: Packers’ Rodgers sets record with INT-free streakPackers Snap Counts: Patrick shows fight in first startUpon Further Review: Packers vs. FalconsPackers beat Falcons 34-20 in Philbin’s debutPHOTOS: Packers vs. FalconsPhotos of the Week: 12/2/18 – 12/8/18Packers’ Bulaga doubtful vs. Falcons, 3 OL on injury reportPreview: Packers host Falcons in matchup of two disappointing teamsCobb practiced again on Thursday as the Packers get ready to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.Out since Week 9, Cobb has been limited to just five games this year because of the lingering hamstring injury. His history with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and ability to get open in traffic could help especially in giving the Packers (4-6-1) another target on third down. Green Bay is just 24th in the league on third down conversions (37 percent).“You go down on a Wednesday of practice, you’re in a unit drill, and you’re kind of at whatever speed you’re going, and he’s out there doing all the little things exactly right,” said McCarthy, who singled out Cobb as a mentor for young receivers.“Well it would be great to get Randall back. I think today will give us some information,” McCarthy said.Looking good as of Thursday, when Cobb was limited for a second straight day.“I think there’s a pretty good chance,” Cobb said. “I think this is the best I felt in a long time, so I’m excited to get back out there.”The versatile Cobb has caught seven of 11 targets on third down this year, averaging 17.9 yards a catch. In his career, Cobb has 125 receptions on 188 targets on third down, averaging 14.2 yards and converting 92 first downs. He worked out before the聽loss at Minnesota聽before being held out. Cobb was just a spectator when the Packers converted just 2 of 10 on third down.“Pick up whatever the third and down distance is JK Scott Jersey ,” Cobb said when asked about getting better on third down. “That’s all it really comes down to is finding a way to move the sticks. That’s just executing when it comes down to making the plays.”Besides Cobb, the Packers also don’t have Geronimo Allison because of a season-ending groin injury. Tight end Jimmy Graham is trying to play through a thumb injury. That has meant more attention to聽No. 1 wideout Davante Adams聽, who is still good enough to have already reached career highs of 1,022 yards on 77 catches. Rookies Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown have had to take more snaps, with mixed results.Rodgers spoke this week about taking some “calculated risks”. Lately, that has meant moving Adams around to different spots; getting running back Aaron Jones the ball in space; and working in Graham.Plus, Rodgers added, “hopefully getting Randall back this week, which would be a big boost for us.”Especially on third downs.“If that means breaking a tackle, making a guy miss or hitting the open man or whatever that is, we’ve got to find a way just to make sure we’re taking care of our jobs,” he said.NOTES: Left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) returned to practice as a limited participant, an encouraging sign after McCarthy said he thought Rodgers’ blind-side protector might focus on rehab on Thursday. It’s important with the Packers getting ready to face Cardinals pass-rusher Chandler Jones (11 sacks). Starting left guard Lane Taylor (quad) was also limited. … Bashaud Breeland (groin) returned to practice, while fellow CB Kevin King (hamstring) was limited for a second straight day. … Graham was limited. Prior to their bye week a month ago, the Green Bay Packers had been a fairly successful team in the fourth quarter of games. They posted absurd comeback victories against the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers — two teams on opposite ends of the standings at present — and although they blew a big lead to the Vikings in the fourth in week two, they also nearly made a furious comeback in Detroit as well. But since the bye, that quarter has killed this team. Opponents have out-scored the Packers 30-13 in the final frame over the past four games, and the team has made a series of frustrating blunders, both in execution by the players and in decisions by the coaching staff, en route to a 1-3 record in that stretch.Still Brett Favre Color Rush Jersey , the Packers have managed to stay alive in the playoff hunt despite their 4-5-1 record on the season, and their playoff hopes remain very much alive heading into a critical game on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Win that game and the equation completely changes; lose it and it’s likely that any hope of the postseason is effectively gone. How’s that for a fun sentiment on your Monday morning?Kyler Fackrell’s career day ends in ‘bittersweet’ fashion | Packers.comFackrell says his breakout this season isn't due to anything specific, just his general all-around work ethic off the field. What a story Saturday will be https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Margus-Hunt-Jersey , no matter the outcome. It is the story of an unlikely meeting between a team who few thought would even make the playoffs versus what was the season-long consensus top team in the AFC. There is no doubt that what the Chiefs have been able to accomplish this year will go down in the record books as one of the most dominant seasons, particularly on offense, in NFL history.Patrick Mahomes? In 2017, some evaluators questioned whether he had a cannon arm but little else.My word do those concerns look ridiculous. He is more than the quarterback with the strongest arm, who can throw the hardest fastball. He has been Houdini, a true showman at the quarterback position throughout the season. His no-look highlight is ridiculous. It is borderline unfair to think that Mahomes was gifted an offense that includes superstar players like perhaps the most dangerous deep threat in the NFL, Tyreek Hill, perhaps the best tight end in the game, Travis Kelce, and one of the most feared backfields (early in the season) in the NFL. When you dream up a dangerous, high-powered offense that will score points — the Chiefs offense is so ridiculously stacked with skill players that you would be forgiven if you couldn’t come up with a team that could match it in your head. This ought to look somewhat familiar to Colts fans. During the Peyton Manning era, there were numerous years where Indianapolis was at or near the most dominant offense in the NFL in just about any measure. Rarely did they have the run game that the Chiefs had early in the season but putting up points was almost never a problem.Chiefs fans have every excuse to believe that their offense will score points. If Colts fans honestly believe that the defense is going to shut down or shutout this offense, they should honestly return to reality. The defense in Indianapolis is definitely a different animal. It can produce stops, create turnovers, and limit big plays. Of that Peyton Manning Jersey , there is no doubt. However, the Chiefs are going to get theirs on Saturday and the Colts are going to have to be prepared to consistently counter-punch or they will risk falling behind — a really poor choice if Indianapolis has any hope for an upset. It is true, the Colts have not faced off against anything like the Chiefs in 2018. Mahomes is the best quarterback the team will have seen. The Chiefs have the best collection of offensive weapons the Colts will have seen all year — even if Sammy Watkins doesn’t play. Matt Eberflus will have his hands full trying to slow down the offensive machine Kansas City has been fine-tuning all season long.Having said that, the Chiefs are about to run into something they haven’t seen this season either. The games that prepared them best for what they are about to see are the ones they played against the Los Angeles Chargers. They are going to play a team that has ridiculous balance and is near the top of the league in every category that should concern them. The offensive line the Chiefs are about to face will absolutely get overlooked by many of their fans. With the full complement of starting offensive linemen healthy this season, the Colts haven’t allowed a sack. With the full complement of starting offensive linemen healthy this season, the Colts have been able to efficiently run the football. This team will punch the Chiefs defense in the mouth in the trenches and grind out long, clock-eating drives on the ground — leaving Mahomes and his offensive skill players to freeze on the sideline — if Kansas City isn’t careful. The Colts also have Andrew Luck, a tight end with the most touchdowns in the league, a bevy of options out of the backfield, and T.Y. Hilton. Don’t get confused, the Colts offense isn’t anywhere as dominant as the Chiefs. However, it is certainly more balanced and far more smashmouth. In the cold, in the playoffs, if the Colts offense can control the ball and sustain drives, young Mahomes is going to get tested. The game has the makings of one that could go any direction. It could be a shootout for the ages with Andrew Luck forced to play catch up against the best offense in the NFL. It could be far more pedestrian on the scoreboard in elements that are surprisingly worse than what is currently forecasted. It wouldn’t shock me if the Chiefs ran away with the game and left the Colts realizing that they are still a season away from being a truly nasty playoff team. It also wouldn’t shock me if the Colts stunned Kansas City Al Woods Color Rush Jersey , pounced on their opportunities on defense and left Chiefs fans disappointed once again in the playoffs. No matter the outcome, it should be a good game and will likely include elements that surprise fans for both teams. Playoff rematches, top quarterback duels and heated divisional matchups highlight what should be a terrific week of football in Week 11 of the NFL. It all starts Thursday night where the great Aaron Rodgers and his Packers’ team head to Seattle to take on Russell Wilson and the 12th man. Both teams are floating around a make-or-break part of their season, and the winner will take that extra step closer to the playoff hunt. For Colts’ fans, Mike Vrabel and his Tennessee squad head to Indy in a battle of the second and third place teams in the AFC South. With an Indianapolis win, the two teams will move to 5-5 on the season as they try to inch closer to one of the final wild card spots. The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to exact their revenge against Jacksonville after the Jaguars eliminated them from the playoffs in 2017, and the Texans and Redskins will face off in Washington as two division leaders hoping to cling on to their first-place spots. This week does feature the less-enticing games like the Buccaneers vs. the Giants, the Cowboys vs. the Falcons and the Cardinals vs. the Raiders, but last week’s Monday Night Football showed us that even the worst teams in the league can put on a terrific display. Both the Panthers and the Bengals will look to move on from their embarrassing losses a week ago as they face the Lions and Ravens, respectively. For Baltimore, they may not know who will be under center just yet, but they’ll need to end a skid off losses that has potential to derail their postseason hopes. In the late afternoon slate, the Broncos travel to take on the Chargers in Los Angeles, and the Philadelphia Eagles will look to get back on track against Sean Payton, Drew Brees and the red-hot Saints.Sunday Night Football gives us a battle for the top spot of the NFC North. Mitchell Trubisky has looked on fire at times this season https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Erik-Swoope-Jersey , and he and that offense will need to put points on the board to keep up with Kirk Cousins, Adam Theilin, Stefon Diggs and Co.Every game this week however pales in comparison to Monday Night Football, where two of the best records in football with two of the best offenses face off in LA. Andy Reid leads Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City squad up against wonder-kid Sean McVay, Jared Goff, Todd Gurley and the Los Angeles Rams. These two teams have been electric all year, and could be a potential glimpse at the two teams to face off in Super Bowl 52.With all that said, let’s check out this week’s picks from your Stampede Blue staff. Brett Mock has taken a three-game lead on the rest of the pack, with Andrew Aziz, Chris Shepherd and Stephen Reed all tied for second place. Hey Jarran Reed Color Rush Jersey , a win is a win. It’s been a good while since the Seattle Seahawks had to rely overwhelmingly on the defensive side of the ball to win a game, especially with the passing offense rendered toothless. Pete Carroll loves great defense and running the ball, and whether or not you agree with that philosophy, those two things were essential in Seattle toppling the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. As things stand, a win over the San Francisco 49ers and some other favorable results could mean that they’d have the #5 seed secured before Week 16. Isn’t that amazing?Let’s get to Winners and Losers. WinnersThe entire Seahawks defenseCollectively, this was the most complete showing by the Seahawks defense I’ve seen all season. Starting with the secondary - Tre Flowers and Shaquill Griffin each balled out, with Griffin in particular having one of the best games of his career. they were great both in coverage and open-field tackling. Justin Coleman had a fumble return for a touchdown, Bradley McDougald had a pivotal 4th and goal breakup. Hell, Akeem King generated pressure on a blitz up the middle on the opening series. You get to the linebackers, and Bobby Wagner was Bobby Wagner. Nine tackles, a 4th down run stop, and a pivotal blocked field goal that may or may not have been legal, but I don’t really care. The Vikings offense was so dismal that I reckon they’d have found a way to not score anyway. On the front line, Frank Clark added to his sack total, rookie Jacob Martin had the exclamation mark with a strip-sack of Kirk Cousins, Dion Jordan was very good in run defense and had at least one hurry of Cousins. Jarran Reed chased Cousins out of the pocket, Shamar Stephen had a good tackle for minimal gain on what could’ve been a big play when two Seahawks players overran a Dalvin Cook handoff. That looked like a vintage Seahawks defense, except almost everyone I mentioned just now was not even on the 2014 team. Kudos to Ken Norton Jr for an excellent gameplan and to the players for an outstanding performance.Chris Carson22 carries for 90 yards and the game-sealing touchdown. He looked fast getting around the edges, where the Vikings were decidedly weak for a normally outstanding run defense. On a night when the Seahawks passing game was struggling, Carson was churning and churning and powering his way for extra yards.Rashaad PennyI’d rather the slalom run not be a thing, but if he’s going to do it, do it well! This wasn’t quite the craziness of the winding dash against the Green Bay Packers, but he had to do a ton just to get 17 exhilarating yards. He’s looking better each week, I just want to see him (and other running backs) be more involved as receivers.Tyler LockettFive catches for 42 yards doesn’t sound like much, but he also drew an (iffy) pass interference penalty, converted on a two-point try, and was the only good Seahawks receiver on the night. Also, I recommend checking out his block on Xavier Rhodes on that aforementioned Penny pitch.George FantTHEY THREW IT TO GEORGE FANT.Honorable mention to Booger McFarland for his genuine laughter. That’s what most of us were surely thinking.LosersRussell WilsonThat end-of-half interception was one of the worst plays he’s ever made. If he was uncomfortable with that sprint out and no one getting open, throw it out of the end zone. Instead he avoided a clock-draining sack by throwing an interception that was lucky not to be a pick-6 had Eric Kendricks not fallen. Overall, 10/20 for 72 yards and that turnover was simply brutal, but he made up for some of it with his best running day in a long time with 61 yards, including that 40-yard gallop late in the 4th. He has to be better against quality defenses though, because several of his worst games this season have not coincidentally been against some of the top defenses by DVOA.The other wide receivers not named Tyler LockettI hope Doug Baldwin gets healthy soon, and beyond that, the Seahawks need to improve the WR group in 2019. David Moore should’ve had a touchdown and instead couldn’t drag his second foot in-bounds at the end of the 1st half. He also had a 3rd down drop on a pretty simple pass that also required him to get YAC for a conversion. Zero catches on five targets for Moore, one catch for no yards for Jaron Brown, and no targets to any other Seattle WR all night. The All-22 will reveal more Nick Vannett Color Rush Jersey , but I suspect some of Wilson’s hesitancy to throw the ball involved “no one getting open.”End-of-half timeout managementThe Wilson interception came about in part because the Seahawks essentially had no choice but to pass. With :16 to go, they burned their last timeout after Wilson ran to the 1-yard line. No timeouts means the Vikings know you’re gonna throw it. I understand not wanting to give the Vikings the ball back late, but letting this much time elapse is not smart.Of course, the Seahawks wasted a timeout after the Penny run because they couldn’t get lined up in time. We just have to live with it.Brad Allen and his crew Let’s see, an “illegal grasp of the helmet opening” by Bobby Wagner, a penalty I don’t think I’ve ever seen called before or knew existed. The replays were inconclusive. Wagner then gets away with a clear face mask later in the drive. Germain Ifedi was wrongly flagged for an unnecessary roughness call that took the Seahawks out of FG range, then they switched it to Jordan Simmons, who did instigate some shoving but that’s a weak penalty to begin with. Even crazier is that the penalty was originally called on the Vikings.I didn’t really agree with the DPI on Xavier Rhodes on Tyler Lockett, as the ball looked uncatchable and Lockett pretty much flopped. However, Rhodes did hold the arm, so I can see why it was called. Tre Flowers’ “hold” on Stefon Diggs? Meh. Then you had the blocked field goal controversy with Bobby Wagner. They weren’t good, and now we have to (in all likelihood) once again hear the stupid nonsense about how the Cheathawks got away with another ref-aided win on MNF. Whatever. The Monday Night Football broadcastI have a soft spot for Joe Tessitore since I’m a longtime boxing fan. Booger McFarland isn’t afraid to speak his mind and be critical of players other analysts seem to shield from criticism. He’s also capable of many terrible takes, such as thinking turning a 6-0 game to 6-3 makes it a “one possession game.” IT ALREADY IS, BOOGER! Jason Witten is a disaster up there, and so is the overall broadcast. I don’t want to listen to them be buddy-buddy in the booth, call the damn game. The Genesis halftime show is a waste of time. I listened to the pre-game show by accident and half my brain melted. And then there was this:Final NotesKirk Cousins isn’t terrible, he’s rarely great, he’s not an $84 million guaranteed quarterback. And John DeFilippo might be in over his head as offensive coordinator. Minnesota is in trouble.Everything does stick to StefonAction Green is 3-0, so I will not speak ill of the jerseys ever again.Matt Hasselbeck raised the flag, which was pretty awesome. End-of-career Hasselbeck was sad to watch, but don’t ever forget that he was one of the catalysts for Seattle’s first Super Bowl team, along with the other NFC West titles. Those days were fun too, just in a different way. I’m pretty damn excited that the Seahawks are just about on their way to the playoffs again, and potentially with room to spare. See you for Enemy Reaction on Tuesday. I’m pretty bummed. I don’t like the Dallas Cowboys, and many others at a minimum just hate the Seattle Seahawks less than they hate Dallas. To have a furious second-half push just to make the playoffs end in a largely self-imposed limp offensive performance is disappointing. The season was a success even without a playoff win. Not being able to get that playoff win still hurts, though. Here’s the final Winners and Losers of the 2018-19 Seahawks season.WinnersK.J. WrightIt’s a shame we didn’t get a full season of K.J. Wright. It would be a bigger shame if that was KJ’s last game as a Seattle Seahawk. Nine tackles and an interception that kept the Seahawks in the contest, he was everywhere. Yes, he had a DPI call against him on Dallas’ game-sealing drive, but his overall performance was excellent.Doug Baldwin and Tyler LockettThe two combined for seven catches and 152 yards, and they had moments of individual brilliance. This was a breakout season for Lockett and if he was in a high-volume passing attack, he’d be talked about as one of the NFL’s best receivers.JD McKissicHe lives! And he caught Seattle’s final touchdown of the season. I want Seattle to bring him back and have him more involved in the offense, and I’m willing to chalk up his injury sapping him of most of his season as the main reason we didn’t see him get more playing time.Ed DicksonOne of the surprises of the season was Dickson becoming a viable safety valve for Russell Wilson. Four catches for 42 yards and somehow he’s one of Seattle’s better guys at getting yards after catch, which is damning of this system to be honest.Frank ClarkHe had Seattle’s only sack of the game, and made a tremendous play in which he stonewalled Ezekiel Elliott at the line of scrimmage by grabbing one leg. Clark must be re-signed.Russell WilsonHis final numbers? 18/27 for 233 yards, a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and no turnovers. It’s hard to think of any real bad plays Wilson had in this game Justin Britt Color Rush Jersey , and the throws he made under pressure to Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett on either side of the half were out of this world.LosersBrian Schottenheimer and PeteballSchottenheimer was atrocious in every way that national TV audiences have previously remembered him. They stubbornly ran Chris Carson into brick walls on early downs. He plays for 3rd down almost all the time. Seattle’s passing offense is not good in obvious passing situations yet they constantly put themselves in those spots, and especially in this game. Schotty did a poor job of not incorporating more carries for Mike Davis and Rashaad Penny when it was obvious Carson’s power was being met with both power and the speed that he lacks. Russell Wilson was scarcely “unleashed” and was effectively gameplanned out of existence for prolonged stretches like he was a scrub QB. That’s unacceptable. As was the chickenshit 3rd-and-long plays that were all about getting better field position for Michael Dickson. But Schottyball is really just Peteball, and Peteball has effectively been snuffed out by all of Pete Carroll’s former assistants. Kris Richard in this game, Robert Saleh in the 49ers rematch, and Gus Bradley in the Chargers game. All losses. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. They know his tendences, they know how Peteball works, but Peteball is largely predicated on dominating the other team while at the same time being fairly predictable. Schottenheimer should do a better job of adjusting, but he’s likely carrying out what Pete wants.Shaquill GriffinGriffin was a question mark coming in due to a sprained ankle, but was taken off the injury report on Thursday. He’s almost certainly not 100% healthy, but I have to put him on here. He was being attacked by Dak Prescott in ways that they basically didn’t test Tre Flowers, the rookie who couldn’t have had a much worse regular season debut. Shaq gave up six catches on 11 targets, a touchdown to Michael Gallup that proved to be vital in the grand scheme of things, and had two terrible moments in run defense against Ezekiel Elliott. On one play, it seems both him and (primarily?) Akeem King lost contain on a 3rd and 1 that led to the Gallup TD. Another play was just Griffin getting shoved like a lightweight by one of the best RBs in the league. Even on the Wright interception, he badly bit on play-action and that’s what led to Prescott throwing it to Noah Brown in the end zone.We shouldn’t measure Shaq based on Richard Sherman. To be honest, he’s not getting burned on the regular, but in many ways he is an embodiment of the 2018 Seahawks defense. He seems to be bang-on average and rarely showed signs of turning the corner (no pun intended) towards becoming one of the Seahawks’ better defenders. Maybe year three will be different.Pass RushDak Prescott was sacked just once and hardly pressured in 33 dropbacks. Turns out the Cowboys OL is a bit better than the Cardinals OL. Pass rush to aid Frank Clark and Jarran Reed is a must in the offseason.Chris Carson15 touches for 21 yards. It was not his night. Obviously this isn’t a Chris Carson problem, but he was not only unable to get on track, Schottenheimer stubbornly kept trying to get him on track at the expense of time and valuable downs.Offensive line Justin Britt and DJ Fluker committed brutal penalties on Seattle’s penultimate offensive drive, and we know the Seahawks can’t overcome being behind the sticks 90% of the time. The run blocking was also poor, whereas the pass blocking really wasn’t, but they were bullied against a Cowboys team hellbent on stopping the run.Brian SchneiderA longer post will touch on this, but please fire Brian Schneider. Tavon Austin was barely a factor all season for the Cowboys due to injuries and “being Tavon Austin.” Of course, they just about gave up a 90-yard punt return TD that was called back due to a holding penalty, and actually gave up a 53-yard punt return to him in the 4th quarter. Dallas didn’t score on that drive thanks to KJ Wright’s interception, but the field position flip was a problem in the first place. You want to talk accountability? Another sub-par ST group — the fourth one over the last five seasons — should be the nail in his coffin.Russell WilsonYes he’s a loser too. Not for performance, but his coaching staff. They failed him miserably and too often took the ball out of his hands with the season on the line. That, more than anything else, upsets me the most.Final NotesDak Prescott had a pretty good game and made several key plays down the stretch. The 3rd and 14 run up the middle was an absolute dagger. That’s a credit to him considering that offense and his coaching staff holds him back, too. I hate that GMC Sierra commercial so much and they kept playing it.That Michael Dickson onside kick attempt... what the hell was that supposed to be?Sebastian Janikowski had a successful year given he made three buzzer-beating game-winners... but I wouldn’t re-sign him. He’s old and got an “out of shape old man” injury on that 57-yard field goal.Wishing the best for Cowboys WR Allen Hurns. His ankle snapped badly early in the 1st quarter on a Bradley McDougald tackle and that’ll be a long recovery for him, one would assume. You hate to see gruesome injuries like that happen. The refs weren’t all that bad. Only 11 accepted penalties combined, but I suppose the worst call that went against the Seahawks was Russell Wilson not getting a face mask call on the lone sack he took. That would’ve been an automatic first down instead of another punt. Blech. We’re going to have to accept that the Seahawks offensive philosophy won’t change. Instead, Seattle’s defense has to be elite again. I suspect that’ll be the main focus heading into next season.Enemy Reaction will chronicle the rest of the playoffs, but I’m not doing one this week. Thanks for reading all of these Winners and Losers columns this season. Now it’s time to switch to offseason coverage as the Seahawks prepare to make a bigger push for playoff contention in the 2019-20 campaign.

Once again on Tuesday http://www.tigersfanproshop.com/authentic-joe-jimenez-jersey , public bettors went 2-1 betting MLB games but lost money.Despite four straight nights of the same pattern, the public is sticking with three heavy favorites on Wednesday.Make it four consecutive 2-1 nights for public bettors that have not resulted in a profit. Last night’s Yankees and Braves plays cashed, but with both coming at -200 or higher, they weren’t enough to overcome the money lost from the Pirates (-130) defeat, assuming bettors are wagering one unit on each game.Blue Jays-Royals Betting Preview: Follow Marco Estrada to Over/Under ValueRead nowDespite that recurring trend, the public is once again hammering three heavy favorites tonight.>> All odds as of 3 p.m. ET. Those bets account for only 74% of dollars, though, which may be what’s driven Cleveland’s line down from -177 to -171.Why the public loves Cleveland:The Indians gave the public a sweat-free 8-1 win last night, so why wouldn’t bettors come back for more tonight? It makes sense to see such heavy support behind the Tribe, especially since Cleveland’s opponent is playing out the string.Atlanta Braves (-230) vs. Miami Marlins7:35 p.m. ETFor the third straight night, the Braves are drawing a ton of public action. a veteran to play third base after the retirement of Adrian Beltre.Free agent Asdrubal Cabrera has agreed to a $3.5 million Stephen Strasburg Jersey , one-year contract with the Rangers, according to a person familiar with the deal. That person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the deal was pending a successful physical for the 33-year-old infielder.Texas also announced a $1 million, one-year contract with right-hander Zach McAllister, a deal allows him to earn an additional $200,000 for games as a pitcher: $100,000 each for 50 and 60.Cabrera split last season, his 12th in the majors, with the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies. After playing 90 games at second base for the Mets http://www.nationalsfanproshop.com/authentic-matt-adams-jersey , Cabrera was traded July 27 to Philadelphia, where he also played shortstop and third base. In 147 games overall, he hit .262 with 23 homers and 75 RBIs, his most since 2011 when he had career highs of 25 homers and 92 RBIs in the first of his two consecutive All-Star seasons as Cleveland’s shortstop.Beltre announced his retirement in November with 3,166 hits in 21 big league seasons, the last eight with the Rangers.Texas acquired young third baseman Patrick Wisdom in a trade from the St. Louis Cardinals during the winter meetings, but then traded infielder Jurickson Profar to the Oakland Athletics a couple of weeks later. Wisdom made his major league debut with 32 games last season.Profar started 46 games at third base for Texas last year, and rookie Isiah Kiner-Falefa started 38.General manager Jon Daniels said during the team’s winter minicamp Tuesday that he expected to add externally at third base.“Ideally we’d like to add somebody to come in and play third base Anthony Rendon Jersey , but also provide some versatility around the infield,” Daniels said.Daniels wouldn’t comment on Cabrera specifically.Wisdom and Kiner-Falefa both took part in the minicamp. Wisdom fielded some grounders at third base, but the team views Kiner-Falefa as primarily a catcher after he also started 35 games behind the plate last season. Slugger Joey Gallo came up through the minor leagues as primarily a third baseman, but made the transition last year to full-time outfielder and Texas plans to keep him there.Cabrera is a .269 career hitter with the Indians (2007-14), Washington (2014), Tampa Bay (2015), the Mets (2016-18) and Phillies. GOODYEAR, Arizona (AP) — Cleveland Indians reliever Tyler Clippard is expected to miss three to four weeks because of a mild pectoral strain.Clippard Daniel Murphy Jersey , who signed a minor league contract on Feb. 23 with an invitation to spring training, left an exhibition game early on March 9 against Colorado. He felt discomfort during the return to his throwing progression this week. The former All-Star would get $2.5 million if he makes the 40-man roster. The AL Central champion Indians start the regular season on March 28.The 34-year-old right-hander, who appeared in 73 games with Toronto last season, was trying to earn a place in a bullpen that lost closer Cody Allan and top reliever Andrew Miller in the offseason.Clippard was 4-3 with a 3.67 ERA last year with the Blue Jays.Clippard has a 52-46 record with a 3.16 ERA since he started with the New York Yankees in 2007. He has pitched for eight teams in his 12-year career.

WEST PALM BEACH http://www.redsfanproshop.com/authentic-cliff-pennington-jersey , Fla. (AP) — Even if Trevor Rosenthal isn’t closing for Washington, he’ll take the mound believing he is.“I think that’s what ultimately allowed me to be successful as a closer is I just have one mentality, one approach,” Rosenthal said. “I approach every single inning kind of like I’m closing. I think that’s ultimately allowed me to be successful and I plan on keeping that same approach in the future.”Rosenthal saved 93 games for St. Louis in 2014 and 2015 combined, but the Cardinals released him following the 2017 season after he underwent Tommy John surgery. The righty didn’t pitch in 2018 and signed a one year, $8 millon contract with the Nationals in October. He arrived at camp ready to fire.In his first appearance of the spring, Rosenthal hit triple digits on the scoreboard’s radar gun. The Nationals have encouraged him to back off a bit as he prepares to pitch in a major league game for the first time since August 2017.“He’s been going great,” Washington manager Dave Martinez said. “He wants to amp it up. It’s more important for me that his mechanics are good to keep his arm strong.”Opponents who survive the three aces at the top of Washington’s rotation — Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin —will still have to navigate a trio of closers late in games. In Sean Doolittle, Kyle Barraclough and Rosenthal the Nationals have three experienced closing arms at the back end of a bullpen that pitched to a 4.05 ERA last season, 15th best in baseball. It starts — or, in this case, ends — with Doolittle.“He’s our closer,” Washington manager Dave Martinez said.A two-time All-Star, Doolittle saved 35 games for Washington last season and 28 the year prior. With Rosenthal sharing the same bullpen, Martinez intends to occasionally use the left-handed Doolittle to match up against lefties in earlier innings.“Having three guys that take that closer mentality into whatever inning that they pitch could really shorten the game,” Doolittle said.Acquired in an October trade, Barraclough saved 10 games for Miami last season.“In a perfect world you have Bear, Rosenthal Anthony DeSclafani Jersey , Doolittle,” Martinez said, indicating the order the trio would appear in games. “But there’s going to be certain situations in the game where I’d rather see Rosenthal facing this group of hitters and then Barraclough facing the next group of hitters.”Washington cleared some room in its bullpen by releasing left-hander Sammy Solis on Saturday. Solis posted a 6.41 ERA in 56 appearances for the Nationals last season and owns a career 4.51 ERA over four seasons with Washington. • linhui95 hat den Blog-Artikel "The upper minors are packed with starters." geschrieben. 22.05.2019

How will the pieces fit at Erie and Toledo?"When we think of a roster crunch in a team’s farm system Jose Ramirez Jersey , usually we’re talking about a very isolated issue revolving around one premium defensive positin. Maybe you have two or three shortstops all in the same stage in their development, and the time comes to move one to second or third base. Or you have multiple catching prospects piling up on each other in the upper minors. Typically, these aren’t difficult to resolve. Less common, is to run into the issue with starting pitchers, particularly across two levels of a farm system. Yet the Tigers’ pitching heavy rebuild now has them in a spot where they have many more starting pitching prospects than there are starts to allocate to them. And several more of the most talented players in the system will be inbound to the Double-A level in 2019. This should make for some interesting decisions facing the Tigers’ front office this spring.Every one of the following young arms was primarily a starter last season at either the Double-A or Triple-A level. Most, the Tigers have already shown an ongoing interest in by keeping them on the 40-man roster. Meanwhile, Sandy Baez, who made 15 starts for the Double-A Erie SeaWolves, has already been converted to a reliever full-time. Some of the following names are likely to follow him into the bullpen as the Tigers carve out the proper workload for their 10 best starting candidates. 2018 Starting PitchersPlayerAgeHighest 2018 levelPlayerAgeHighest 2018 levelMake way for the new breedFew of those 11 pitchers are ready to graduate to the major leagues, at least on a full-time basis. Turnbull, Funkhouser, and Hall are all close, and should pitch for the Detroit Tigers this season in some capacity, but none are likely to seize a starting rotation spot in the majors at this point. Others, like Carpenter and Ladwig, aren’t on the same level and will have to seize whatever opportunities arise. The Tigers presumably won’t give any of them priority in a rotation at any level. A few may even be whittled away before spring camp closes.Top prospects Casey Mize and Franklin Perez seem likely to start the year briefly at Lakeland, but really have nothing to prove at that level. Mize is already considered major league ready by many scouts, while Perez has already had success at the Double-A level. He simply needs to get healthy this offseason and back on track. Both of them should be pitching for the SeaWolves as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Gregory Soto hasn’t exactly “graduated” from the Florida State League, but spinning his wheels there in 2019 doesn’t make much sense. The Tigers may give him a little more time as a starter in Lakeland, especially as he’s been suspended the first 20 games of the season for an as yet unknown offense. Or, perhaps they’ll simply make the move and turn Soto into a reliever. Finally Ronald Acuna Jr. Jersey , we have Grayson Long, who missed most of 2018 for thoracic outlet surgery. He won’t be back on the mound until mid-season, presumably, but Long had a very nice season pitching in Double-A for the Los Angeles Angels back in 2017. He’ll turn 25 in May, and if his health is good, he too may be in the mix for a spot at Erie once he gets some work under his belt. Still, it’s also possible, even likely, that the Tigers simply take it easy with him coming off the surgery, and keep him in Lakeland under the watchful eye of the Tigers development staff.Still that’s 13 or 15 starting pitchers all bound for the top two levels of the system. The Tigers won’t have to sort this out by April 1st. Holding a few guys back in Lakeland will allow time for the situation to sort itself out a bit. Even so, the system is reaching the point where the Tigers are finally going to be forced to make some decisions. The rotationsLet’s take our best crack at filling out both squads’ rotations. This may not be where they start or end up, but expect these assignments to occupy the majority of their seasons.2019 Projected RotationsToledo Mud Hens (AAA)Erie SeaWolves (AA)Toledo Mud Hens (AAA)Erie SeaWolves (AA)That Erie SeaWolves rotation should be absolutely nasty, by the way. These things tend to resolve themselvesOf course, it’s important to remember that some of the crunch will sort itself out on its own. Injuries, trades, success and failure this spring, all these elements may decide matters before the Tigers even need to weigh in with tough decisions. Some of the lesser names mentioned will simply be bounced around to fill gaps in both starting and relief capacities. Still, it’s pretty clear that a few pitchers are really up against it heading into the 2019 campaign. To find room for their top ten starting pitching prospects, the Tigers will have to take a hard look at several of the older prospects who have stalled out to a degree, and decide to either cut them loose, trade them, or move them to the bullpen. It’s also high time the Tigers consider trying to turn some of their depth into major league talent via trade. That could take the form of simply trading prospects for a player Sean Newcomb Jersey , or through a willingness to add a prospect to a trade of a major league piece, such as Nick Castellanos or Matt Boyd, to try and upgrade the return.Obviously, depth like this is a good thing, but now the Tigers have to get more proactive. It does an organization no good to simply hang on to everyone until they’ve proven incapable of growing into a major league regular. The fact remains that few prospects make it in the major leagues. Particularly the slightly below average types with which the Tigers are absolutely loaded. They’ve got to find a way to keep their best prospects, while looking to improve in other areas even if it requires paring away some of that depth. If they play their hand well, the Tigers should be able to retain a very talented core group of young starting pitchers, while at the same time rounding out the organization in other ways. How do you see the rotations shaking out at Toledo and Erie? TORONTO (AP) — Through chattering teeth, Charlie Montoyo talked about how good it felt to win for the first time as a major league manager. After Matt Shoemaker and the Blue Jays beat Detroit 6-0 Friday night, Toronto players marked their new skipper’s milestone victory by bundling him into a laundry basket, dragging him into the showers and dousing him with beer.“He got about 50 or 60 cold ones all at the same time,” winning pitcher Matt Shoemaker said. “It was awesome.”Pitcher Marcus Stroman posted video of the impromptu celebration the to his Twitter account. The frosty bath left Montoyo soaking wet and more than a little chilly in his postgame news conference.“I’m freezing,” Montoyo said as he took his place at the podium.Montoyo spent 18 years as a minor league manager and another four as a big league coach with the Tampa Bay Rays before being hired to replace John Gibbons in Toronto.“Now I can retire, I have a win at every level,” he joked.Matt Shoemaker pitched seven sharp innings and Justin Smoak and Freddy Galvis each drove in two runs, a day after the Blue Jays were blanked in a 10-inning loss.Shoemaker (1-0) allowed two hits, walked two and struck out seven. The right-hander signed a one-year deal with Toronto over the winter after spending his first six seasons with the Angels.“He shut us down,” Detroit manager Ron Gardenhire said.Tigers catcher John Hicks said Shoemaker had three pitches working.“He had good action with his fastball, his slider was really good, and the split, too,” Hicks said.Combined with Stroman’s seven scoreless innings Thursday Preston Tucker Jersey , Shoemaker gave the Blue Jays a team record for consecutive shutout innings by starting pitchers to open the season. Toronto’s previous best was eight innings, set by Jack Morris in 1992.Javy Guerra finished with two perfect innings for Toronto.Matt Boyd (0-1) struck out 10 in five innings. After establishing a team record for futility with a 13-inning scoreless drought to begin the season, the Blue Jays broke through with a four-run fourth. Teoscar Hernandez broke the skid with an RBI single, and Billy McKinney scored from first when center fielder Mikie Mahtook bobbled a bases-loaded single by Galvis.Mahtook also failed to corral Brandon Drury’s leadoff triple in the first inning, although Boyd struck out the next three batters. Those were the first in a stretch that saw Boyd fan seven of nine.Gardenhire said miscommunication was to blame for Detroit’s defensive miscues.“We had that a couple of times,” he said.Smoak made it 6-0 with a two-out, two-run single off Blaine Hardy in the seventh.Detroit’s Nicholas Castellanos was left stranded after a one-out double in the fourth, then got caught in a rundown after reaching on a one-out triple in the sixth.“He kind of hesitated and when he did that, now you’ve got a mess,” Gardenhire said.Castellanos was the only Tigers player to get a hit.“Four hits in two games, that’s not going to score you a lot of runs,” Gardenhire said. “We’ll get there.”ZEROESToronto’s three shutouts in 2018 were the second fewest in the majors. Only Detroit (two) had fewer. The Tigers were blanked an MLB-leading 18 times last year.ALWAYS SPECIALShoemaker, who was born and raised in suburban Detroit, said he always enjoys facing his boyhood team.“I grew up a Tigers fan” he said. “Cecil Fielder was my guy growing up. It’s a little different excitement pitching against your hometown team.”I KNOW YOUA former Blue Jays prospect, Boyd joined to the Tigers in the deal that sent left-hander David Price to Toronto in July 2015.TRAINER’S ROOMTigers: Minor league RHP Franklin Perez, one of Detroit’s top pitching prospects, is expected to miss four to six weeks because of tendinitis in his right shoulder. Perez missed much of 2018 because of shoulder and back injuries.
